Keith Brautigam is an IT and cybersecurity leader with deep expertise in identity and access management (IAM). Over his career, he has advanced from systems administration to executive roles, including Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), Deputy CIO, and Interim Chief Information Officer (CIO), leading initiatives that strengthen security, streamline IT operations, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Keith specializes in identity and access management, cybersecurity strategy, IT compliance, and enterprise IT leadership. His experience spans higher education, healthcare research, and global manufacturing environments.

Keith was born in San Diego, California, and spent his early childhood in the East Bay Area of San Francisco before moving to Iowa City, Iowa, during high school. He earned a degree in Communication and Media Studies from the University of Iowa, where he also studied abroad in Mérida, Venezuela.

After navigating a difficult job market following the burst of the eCommerce bubble, Keith worked as a supervisor at a Borders bookstore in North Carolina — an experience he credits for valuable customer service and leadership training. He then joined a medical research center in Iowa City as an IT Systems Administrator, where he managed secure systems supporting clinical and research work in lung imaging.

While working in the medical research environment, Keith recognized the growing importance of IT compliance and data security, particularly with the introduction of HIPAA regulations. This experience became a defining focus of his career in secure systems and access management.

Keith joined a major university’s central IT organization in 2014 and was promoted from Manager to Director, then to CISO, and later Deputy CIO. In 2023, he was appointed Interim CIO, leading the institution’s entire information technology enterprise.

As CISO, he led an information security program supporting over 200,000 students, faculty, and staff, and protecting more than $1 billion in annual research expenditures. Highlights include the Shields Up initiative implementing CISA best practices, a new Multi-Factor Authentication rollout that saved $500,000 annually, the modernization of Web Single Sign-On using Microsoft Entra ID, migrating over 500 applications in 12 months, and an enterprise Identity Governance system managing 1.2 million user accounts. As Deputy CIO, he also led the reorganization of a 600-person central IT department.

Keith holds the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification, an MBA, and a Graduate Certificate in Strategic Leadership.

In March 2024, Keith joined Hunter Douglas in Broomfield, Colorado, as Global Cybersecurity Director of Identity and Access Management. He built the company’s IAM program from the ground up — strategy, staffing, and software — and led an aggressive implementation of a leading Identity Governance system across North America and EMEA to replace legacy systems and support SOX compliance. He also designed a global access management architecture covering privileged account management, unified single sign-on, and privileged remote access.

In 2025, Keith transitioned to Radiology Partners, continuing his focus on IAM strategy. He is based in the Denver Metro Area (Aurora, CO).
